A French program to begin your studies at the Université de Montréal
This four-month program provides the ideal conditions to reach the advanced intermediate level of French proficiency, required for admissibility to most of UdeM study programs.
To be admissible to this French program you must:
1. Have sufficient knowledge of French
This intensive French program is exclusively developed for students whose knowledge of French meets level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
To be admissible, all candidates must provide proof of French knowledge equivalent to level B1.
To this end, they must have attained one of the following:
- level B1 in listening and reading comprehension on one of the following tests in the 24 months prior to enrolment in the study program.
- level B1 on the "Accès au programme de francisation" online test given by the Université de Montréal. This test is only recognized by the French program and does not make you eligible for admission to the Université de Montréal. If you attain level B1 on this test, you’ll be admissible to the program.
2. Plan to submit an application to a study program at the Université de Montréal
To register, you first need to target a study program at the Université de Montréal that requires a French proficiency level of B2. If you successfully complete this intensive program, you will not have to take an additional French proficiency test to begin your studies at UdeM. Your attestation will remain valid for 2 years.
